The Aerodynamic Measurement Challenge

In advanced automotive and motorsport wind tunnels, capturing the true aerodynamic downforce and drag imparted to the vehicle requires measuring the forces directly at the tire contact patch. Through-the-belt wheel force measurement systems rely on hydrostatic or air-bearing load cells positioned directly beneath the stainless steel belt.

If these transducers exhibit thermal drift, creep, or mechanical hysteresis, the entire aerodynamic force summation (Fz, Mx, My) is corrupted. Furthermore, accurately capturing the longitudinal force (Fx) at each wheel is critical for computing the vehicle's aerodynamic center of effort.

The SE-WFS series is designed as a drop-in replacement for the OEM under-belt transducers found in major high-performance rolling road systems (capable of speeds up to 80 m/s).

  • Biaxial Capability (Fz / Fx): Our SE-WFS-ZX model introduces a secondary, highly isolated Fx bridge. This allows aerodynamicists to measure longitudinal drag directly at the contact patch, providing critical data for center-of-effort computations without requiring a separate tractive force transducer.

  • Seamless Integration: Features identical mechanical bolt patterns and standard mil-spec connectors to ensure immediate compatibility with your facility's existing data acquisition (DAQ) and signal conditioning hardware.
