The ERRA-500 is a strain gauge based force measuring element that measures up to five components of dynamic force in any direction. It is available as 1, 3 or 5 axis (ERRA-500-1, -3, -5) and as a complete 1 m × 1 m instrumented crash wall. It is designed for measuring high dynamic impact forces during crash test procedures for automotive R&D.

Main features / advantages

  • 1, 3 or 5 axis versions (Fx; Fx, Fy, Fz; plus My, Mz)

  • Available as a single element or a 1 m × 1 m wall

  • High rigidity and high natural frequency, at least XXXX Hz

  • Wide measuring range (Fx: 500 kN; Fy, Fz: 500 kN)

  • Full DC response, static and dynamic

  • Compatible with any data acquisition system

The ERRA-500 force measuring element consists of a top plate and a base plate connected by a machined stainless steel sensing element. Full-bridge strain gauges on the element generate a signal proportional to the applied force in each measured axis. Each bridge measures the orthogonal forces Fx, Fy and Fz, and in the 5-axis version the moments My and Mz, during the crash. The analog bridge outputs go through a single connector to the data recorder of your choice.

The ERRA-500 wall consists of the force measuring elements pre-installed on a common mounting plate, with internal cable routing to a single connector panel. The wall is supplied calibrated and ready to be bolted to the barrier frame.
