Biaxial Transducers for Tire Rolling Resistance Measurement Systems
High-precision Fz / Fx load cells engineered for ISO 28580 and SAE J1269 compliance. Direct-fit upgrades for passenger car and commercial truck rolling resistance test machines.
The Metrology of Rolling Resistance
Measuring tire rolling resistance using the force method requires extracting an exceptionally small longitudinal force (Fx) while the tire is subjected to a massive radial pre-load (Fz). For example, a passenger car tire may require 15,000 N of vertical force to generate a mere 500 N of rolling resistance drag.
In this environment, mechanical cross-talk is the enemy of data integrity. If the spindle load cell allows even a fraction of a percent of the Fz load to alias into the Fx measurement bridge, the resulting drag calculation is mathematically invalidated. Relying entirely on digital software compensation matrices to correct a mechanically compliant sensor introduces unacceptable uncertainty into standardized emissions testing.
SE-BIAX-RR Architecture: Hardware-Level Isolation
The SE-BIAX-RR series is designed to physically reject off-axis loads before they ever reach the measurement bridge. By utilizing an ultra-stiff, highly optimized internal geometry, we achieve industry-leading mechanical cross-talk rejection natively at the hardware level.
ISO / SAE Compliance: Engineered specifically to meet and exceed the stringent precision requirements of ISO 28580, ISO 18164, and SAE J1269 steady-state testing protocols.
Extreme Cross-Talk Rejection: Features a proprietary internal shear web topology that physically isolates the vertical (Fz) and longitudinal (Fx) axes, virtually eliminating the need for heavy software-based Fz-to-Fx digital compensation matrices.
High Over-Moment Capacity: The monolithic sensor structure is built to easily withstand severe overturning moments and dynamic overloads (such as tire landing spikes or catastrophic bead failures) without yielding or suffering zero-shifts.
Direct Integration: Seamlessly replaces OEM carriage force sensors on both Passenger Car (PC) and Commercial Truck (CT) rolling resistance platforms.
